- jam.

Bedingungen laut EU DrupalCon Scorecard:

  • Team meets regularly
    • Many German user groups meet regularly
    • We offer the combined strengths of a national network of German user groups unified by the DI
  • Team has hosted events
    • DrupalCamp Cologne was a huge success
    • LinuxTag Drupal Presence in Berlin has been very popular and excellent
    • Other, smaller events have been (and will be) happening across the country: more DrupalCamps, theming camps, etc.
  • Team is large and structured
    • local users group in city of choice, plus
    • all other users groups in Germany, plus
    • national organization committee, plus
    • coordinated by the DI, plus
    • proposal and Con Chairperson
    • propsal and Con OrgaTeam
    • We offer the combined forces of all German users groups
    • We are unified by the DI as organizational tool
    • We have community sites, and debate structuress in place
    • We have experience as a community in both consensus building and conflict resolution
  • Proposal is well crafted and carefully prepared
    That's what we're doing here!
  • Proposal was submitted on time
***PROPOSAL MUSS AM DONNERTAG 1.10.2009 EINGEREICHT WERDEN!***
  • Proposal includes space/infrastructure for BOFs, multiple presentation tracks, trade fair.
    • Need listing of room and technical requirements for 2000 visitors
    • Question: How many presentation tracks?
    • Question: What presentation tracks?
    • Question: How much and what kind of space for BOF tracks?
    • Question: Is the trade fair one day in one place or longer and spread out?
  • Proposal includes "green stuff": public transport, short (walking) distances, rail connections from airport(s) and so on. Innovative concepts for "greening" cons higly encouraged.
    • Less paper, more electronic materials?
    • No canned drinks
    • Cooperation with DB Call-A-Bike for all Con visitors?
    • Con ticket can include local public transport ticket for the whole week of the con?
    • Catering to avoid use of paper plates and cups?
    • Schwag package can include porcelain coffee cup (from sponsor) for use all week?
    • All accommodation, Con location and Con events can be reached in 10 minutes on foot and/or with public transport.
  • Location is easily accessible
    • Accessible in terms of public transport
      • All major German cities are good in this regard.
    • Accessible in terms of "barrier free" for all
      • This lies, at least in part, within Blue Project's area of responsibility.
      • Question: What can Planning- and OrgaTeam do to make sure this happens?
  • Location has nice local attractions
    • TBD when city decided - all major cities in Germany have nice stuff to offer.
  • Location reaches a new European DrupalCon audience (spread the love - there are plenty of places to go before we repeat any locations)
    • Our Drupal community really needs this con. We are the 2nd most used Drupal language and the 2nd most used internet language. (German is also the most-spoken native language in Europe and the third most learned foreign language in the world.) Germany as a country and culture is just starting to wake up to Open Source software (German interior minister statement: http://www.osor.eu/news/de-interior-minister-open-source-reduces-vendor-...). We need this event to make our community grow larger and grow into a tightly-knit and bonded group of Drupalistas. With a good PR strategy, the DrupalCon could be a major tipping point for us.
  • Location has strong business or media interest/involvement in Drupal
    • This can be said in some way about most German cities. Needs to be tailored to specific location.
  • Location is popular among Drupal Community (open poll)
    • This does not form part of our proposal (unless someone comes up with a clever marketing strategy for us to use!).
  • Venue can support 1500-2000 people
    • All major German cities have trade fairs, universities and other conference facilities.
    • The Drupal Association's event management company can suggest what works best in various places.
    • Local Users Groups can also make suggestions for unusual and interesting venues to Blue Project.
  • Venue is close to hotels and restaurants
    • Any German inner-city location will fulfill this condition wonderfully.
    • All German cities have excellent public transport networks.
  • Venue costs are reasonable
    • Question: are there large differences in venue costs between German cities? Or are prices in the major cities all within a small range across the whole country?
  • Venue contracts are reasonable
    • This has nothing to do with our proposal. It is up to Blue Project to choose a venue and negotiate a Con contract.
