For initial pilot launch, we will be requiring the website launch in 3 target markets, Germany (.de), Netherlands (.nl) and Great Britain (.co.uk). Each domain requires the ability to place different content into the layouts, but structurally they will be the same. Additionally content translation will need to be made available for the languages required for each market (Germany [de|en], Neatherlands [no|de], Great Britian [en]). Administration interface improvements will need to be done to make sure this site is able to be administered by not-that-tech-savvy end users.
After the pilot launch, this website will expand out into other target markets and languages, so the underlying structure will need to be solid, easy to maintain, and easy to use. In total there will be eventually around 19 of these target markets (INTL, FR, ES, BE, LU, CH, DK, AT, IT, SE, PL, AU, CZ, RO, SL) many of which will use a new language.
The implementation of developing the structure will be left up to the developers, but you must have past experience with these types of modules, so that you know what will work best:
• Internalization / Localization
• Organic Groups
• Domain Access Module
• Panels or Context or Both
On the administrative side something like the "Workbench module" will need to get used or created to make sure content editors for target markets / languages are able to do their jobs, with out getting overwhelmed by all the content which is not relevant to them.
There was a good talk at DrupalCon Munich will explains various techniques of implementing multi-headed / multi-language Drupal installs, which gets interesting around slide #50. If you have not need this, you should watch it before replying to this job posting.
